Local News: LKTYP thrilled to present cherished musical, The Wizard of Oz Black Habits Articles Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People (LKTYP) is proud to present The Wizard of Oz, one of the most beloved stories of the twentieth century! Filled with all the magic and wonder of L. Frank Baum’s masterpiece, The Wizard of Oz will run on the Mainstage November 4 to December 30.

A fresh take on the classic tale, The Wizard of Oz offers an inspiring view of the central character, Dorothy – a feisty heroine who travels a long way to find where her home truly is. Inspired by the 1939 movie musical, this ambitious production uses contemporary dance and music, blending an exciting mix of pop culture and nostalgia to create old-fashioned theatre magic. The timeless Arlen/Harburg score includes such cherished favourites as Over the Rainbow, If I Only Had a Brain and We’re Off to See the Wizard.

"Dorothy is a girl in search of her home and in a way the people in her life are trying to let her know that they are her home, that she matters to them and they are her real - albeit chosen - family” says Allen MacInnis, Artistic Director, LKTYP. “In today's world, giving support to blended or chosen families is very important to the healthy development of children".

Directed by Allen MacInnis, the stellar cast includes Saccha Dennis in the role of Dorothy as well as Thom Allison, Molly Atkinson, Rhoslynne Bugay, Sara Farb, George Masswohl, Sharron Matthews, Sam Moses, Paul McQuillan and Shawn Wright .

The talented creative team includes Set & Costume Designer Michael Gianfrancesco, Musical Director Paul Sportelli, Choreographer Nicola Pantin, Lighting Designer Steve Lucas, Sound Designer Michael Laird and Stage Manager Kathryn Westoll.
